What is Reiki?

Reiki originated from the Japanese language.  It combines Rei – spiritual consciousness or divine wisdom and ki - universal life force. 

Reiki is a holistic therapy that works to restore life-force energy to a system (emotional, physical or spiritual) that has become depleted.  Sometimes life-force energy flow to the body can become blocked.  Some causes of these energy blocks are due to lack of exercise; joint pain and stiffness; negative and deep-set patterns of thought; negative and self-defeating behaviors; and unexpressed thoughts and feelings.

Channeling the life-force energy through a Reiki treatment can clear these blocks creating new and more open pathways that feeds the cells and organs of our physical bodies additionally providing support to our emotional and spiritual bodies.    Ultimately a Reiki treatment can restore us to health, well-being and peace of mind.

Having a Reiki session is a different experience for everyone.  A client may feel a sense of warmth, tingling, emotional responses such as laughter or tears, a sense of peace or nothing at all.  There is no ‘wrong’ way to experience it.  Reiki is an intelligent energy and will direct itself to our body where it is needed whether we feel something or not.  That is what makes it so effective.

Reiki is spiritual in nature but it is not a religion.  Any faith can work with and receive Reiki.  It can enhance one’s experience with their own religion.
